BIOGRAPHY
Michael Vass is a filmmaker and writer based in Montreal. His award-winning films have screened at festivals, galleries, and other venues, including MoMA Doc Fortnight, the Toronto International Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, Hot Docs, the Criterion Channel, MoMA PS1, and the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art. He was the 2012 winner of the Canadian Art Foundation Writing Prize. His writings have appeared in Cinema Scope, Cineaction, Momus, Canadian Art, C Magazine, MACHETE, and other publications. Michael received his BFA from Simon Fraser University and his MFA from York University. He's an alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre's Directors' Residency as well as the UnionDocs Collaborative Studio Program in Brooklyn.
